WHITNEY: Oh, I’m getting another movie off Netflix (I’d told him about Eight Men Out and Gattaca).
MR. WHITNEY: Oh yeah, which one?
WHITNEY: The Filth and the Fury.
MR. WHITNEY: Ah.
WHITNEY: It’s a documentary about Otto.

Go away. Just go away.

Happy July tomorrow, or something. I am soooooooo glad that this is a four day week. Anyone who is buying a house this summer needs to be dragged out into the street and shot. :^)

Thursday

Thursday, June 26th, 2003

If you give Otto my mother’s keys, he can pick out the key to my mom’s car and say “this is the key to Grandma’s little tiny white car.” (She drives a Miata.)
He can also pick out the key to my dad’s car and say “this is the key to Grandpa’s red car.”
Sure, big [...]

Memo to self:

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

Do not drink two cans of Diet Vanilla Coke after 10pm. Nothing good can come of it.

Flick Chick

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

I am so seeing this movie Saturday afternoon. I have a $5.00 certificate for Hoyt’s (and it’s not one of those where I can’t use it the first two weeks of a movie’s release), and matinees ’round these parts cost $5.50.
It’s a no brainer.
Anyone know if this movie is going to be released States-side?

Today’s what, the 25th?

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

Happy 25th to everyone, then.
We think (think, hope, pray) that Otto’s fever broke today (finally). So he’s home tomorrow (thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you to my parents who are watching him tomorrow for us) and then we can unleash him again upon the world.
I got (and read, in two [...]

Sigh.

Wednesday, June 25th, 2003

Otto was perfectly fine and temperature-free until about 6pm last night, then WHAMMO! 102.
So, I’m home this morning and Mr. Whitney is taking the afternoon shift. (My parents ended up watching him yesterday.)
Sigh.

Riddle me this.

Tuesday, June 24th, 2003

So Mr. Whitney goes to sleep early, saying “Otto will probably wake up during the night”, which one would assume would mean that Mr. Whitney would be the one getting up in the middle of the night, right? Especially since I’m going into work an hour early?
Heh.

Call me cruel, but…

A two year old with the hiccups is the cutest thing EVER.

Sick Boy – but not the Trainspotting character

Monday, June 23rd, 2003

Otto’s got a fever again. :^( He seems to be okay – we give him Tylenol and he returns to his normal self, if a little more clingy than usual. Mr. Whitney’s going to take the morning shift tomorrow and I’ll take the afternoon.
I put on my black dress with white polka [...]

Rhymes with “right smash”, I think.

Sunday, June 22nd, 2003

Our across the street neighbors are the kind of people who have things in their front yard that most people keep in their back yard (grill, picnic table, arguments, child punishment sessions). There’s nothing like trying to relax on a nice Sunday morning, pulling some weeds, only to have your shirtless neighbor yelling at [...]

Sunday Morning (not the Velvet Underground song)

Sunday, June 22nd, 2003

After a craptastically rainy day yesterday, today looks to be nice. Perhaps I will go out and pull all the weeds that seem to have popped up in the flowerbed I planted between our house and the neighbor’s.
Otto is out on the front porch saying “Ball and chain….ball and chain” repeatedly. I wonder [...]

Your cute Otto story for the day

If he wants to go barefoot, he will tell you he wants to “wear toes”.

I big heart shopping

Friday, June 20th, 2003

I bought some Professional Clothes today while I was at lunch – a black dress with white polka dots, a long black skirt, a sage green pantsuit and a white shell-type top. Total cost? About $75. (The pantsuit itself was only $10.)
Yay me.

Well, at least since what, 1918?

Well, it sucks to be a Red Sox fan right about now.
Then again, it’s always sucked to be a Red Sox fan.

Work Part 928234982797

Tuesday, June 17th, 2003

Another thing that’s going to take a while to get used to at work is the fact that there are secretaries around that I can utilize. In a few situations I have to utilize them, as they have software on their computers that I don’t (that I had at The Old Firm, which is [...]

Bingo Bango Bongo & Irving fun

Tuesday, June 17th, 2003

Today was probably the worst day at work I’ve had since I started. Gilligan kept saying I was taking “poetic license” with various documents, when I wasn’t; I was basing the documents off previous documents and hadn’t changed all the information. It’s kind of minor stuff (saying a document is in effect “on [...]

Miscellany

Monday, June 16th, 2003

I took off my acrylic nails. They were looking pretty ratty and I just couldn’t see a point where I would have the time to get them done, y’know? I tried to do it the “proper” way (which involves acetone, cotton balls and aluminum foil) but that got annoying, so I did it [...]

Boom Boom Dollar, baby!

Monday, June 16th, 2003

I did about half an hour of Dance Dance Revolution this evening, on “Workout” mode.
If the little guide is to be believed, I burned about 200 calories doing it.
Go me.
My knee will probably revolt tomorrow and not work, but ah well.

Monday Monday

Monday, June 16th, 2003

Otto had his 2 year checkup today. 36″ tall, 27 pounds 14 ounces. That puts him at 85th percentile for height and 50th for weight. Not bad.
The nurse asked us if he could string words together. I kind of chuckled at that one.
No shots today, thank God. [...]
