Saturday, January 31st, 2004back story: I have a jar of that Jolen bleach creme stuff in our medicine cabinet. It’s from when I dyed my hair bright orange – I used it on my eyebrows.
Anyway, I’d picked up Otto to help him put his toothpaste back in the cabinet. “Look, Mommy!” he said. “J-O-L-E-N!”
Jaw, meet floor. [...]

Friday, January 30th, 2004When you’re making an iPod cozy, it’s a good thing to realize that the metal shank of a button can poke through the knit fabric and scratch the bejeezus out of the screen of the aforementioned iPod.
What I did this evening
Thursday, January 29th, 2004I made a few iPod cozies, the XK series.
I’m on XK-3, still trying to nail down the fastening system. I don’t like velcro, buttons work okay but involves extra thread right over the iPod screen (to hold the button on). Plus, because it’s knit, the edges curl outward. I thought snaps might [...]

Maybe I’ll get them anyway.
Sunday, January 25th, 2004When Otto and I were at Target today, I happened to see Return of the King kid valentines. I would’ve bought them, but Otto wouldn’t have used them at school and Mr. Whitney would’ve just give me more “You are such a GEEK” grief.
Anyway, I think I might design my own. They’ll go [...]
Heehee
Sunday, January 25th, 2004If I’m playing music, Otto will ask for “Hey Ho Let’s Go” (“Blitzkreig Bop”) and “Let The Man Go Through” (“Super Bon-Bon” by Soul Coughing).
My son rocks.
Your daily Kevin update
Thursday, January 22nd, 2004I was pulling songs off Zooropa when I made the mistake of looking at the copyright date on it.
1993.
I remember the summer that album came out. I was visiting Gnomeloaf when she and Baumgar lived in the DC area – it was around the 4th of July. We each bought a copy of [...]
Okay, I’m stopping for the night.
Thursday, January 22nd, 2004650 songs, 2.64 GB.
That comes out to about 1 day, 20 hours of straight music.
Well, you learn something new every day.
Wednesday, January 21st, 2004I was pulling “Selling Jesus” off my Strange Days soundtrack, so I went to that movie’s page at the IMDb. Apparently at one point in the movie, Angela Bassett’s character says “Right here, right now” to Ralph Finnes’ character. This is where Fatboy Slim got the sample for the song of that name.
State of the Kevin Address

Monday, January 19th, 2004I am so totally geeking out over my iPod it’s not funny.
So instead I will tell you an Otto story.
His favorite favorite pajamas are these red plaid ones with a patch of a Jeep on them. They are, of course, his “Jeep Jammies”. They’re a button-up top and pants.
His second favorite pajamas are [...]

Saturday, January 17th, 2004This looks good.
Today was a pretty good day. Last night, I’d asked Otto what he wanted to do today, and he said “I want to watch the kids climb up the wall.” (That means going here, and watching people climb the two-story rock wall thing they have there. He’d gone with my [...]
