lots of little plastic pieces everywhere

Friday, December 28th, 2007

Our house has been overtaken by Exo-Force and Bionicle creatures. Beyond the four sets that Otto got for Christmas from various people, he bought two more yesterday with a Toys R Us gift card he’d gotten. So I’m constantly stepping over Sky Guardians and Iron Condors and the like.
I finally got around to watching No [...]

zzzzzzzz

Wednesday, December 26th, 2007

Christmas was a success; we survived it, anyway. Otto was very generous and woke up at 9am. (The kid knows the value of sleep.) We assembled three of his LEGO kits yesterday and as I was leaving for work this morning, he was putting together the fourth.
I’ve only watched the Saturday Night Live sketches from [...]

have a merry wrapped in plastic christmas!

Tuesday, December 25th, 2007

I got the Twin Peaks Definitive Gold Box Edition (w00t), Mr. Whitney got his USB turntable, Otto got eighteen thousand LEGO kits and this thing that you can hook up to the TV and look at stuff with 200x magnification.
Pretty sweet holiday all around.

all i want is what’s coming to me…all i want is my fair share.

we watched A Charlie Brown Christmas and How The Grinch Stole Christmas! tonight. Before we started, however, I made sure to play this to achieve the full effect.
(I s’pose you could watch this as well.)

I have eighty bazillion things I *have* to do, so what do I do? NEW BLOG DESIGN!

merry treemas

Tuesday, December 18th, 2007

there. we have tree. merry holidays.
(the tree topper is Twinkle, one of the cousins from We Love Katamari, as drawn by Otto. I can’t get a clear picture of it and I can’t find a picture online.)

that wasn’t in the job description

I spent most of my time at work today helping my boss gather up the stuff his son needs to apply for a visa to get into China to study for a semester. Apparently a friend of the son gave him [the son] his [the friend's] passport and other items figuring that because the [...]

I just let Otto go next door to play with the neighborhood kids – they have a small snow hill that’s maybe 6′ tall. As he was running over there, he yelled “AWESOME!” at the top of his lungs.

well

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

it wasn’t just a dusting, but it wasn’t two feet. Call it a foot or so. Mr. Whitney’s out there snowblowing it right now.

really, I will be happy when this time of year is over

Sunday, December 16th, 2007

So we were supposed to get OMFG SNOWSTORM that was going to leave us buried under 2′ of snow. Mr. Whitney was all jonesing for a snow day. However, we are in the midst of it and it appears to be a dusting.
I pretty much finished my holiday shopping yesterday; I just need [...]

should I worry….

that my son knows Neidermeyer’s entire monologue from the beginning of the “I Wanna Rock” video by Twisted Sister?

and not Ian McKellan either

Thursday, December 13th, 2007

I think I need to start reading the Culture series by Iain M. Banks (not Ian McEwen). Any books that have ships with names like these sound awesome.

hm.

I can’t decide if I’m excited about this movie. On the one hand, it looks kinda neat. On the other hand, Hayden Christensen.

in which your humble narrator has an adventure

Tonight I had a knitting guild meeting. I wanted to get there a little early because I wanted to talk with the woman who edited the newsletter, as I am now in charge of that and I needed to talk to her. (Yay me.) Tonight was also Shop Night, when all the yarn [...]

Miffy is in for Part Two of her repair, which had better not cost us anything (part is supposedly under warranty). As it is, I am looking at the Honda Fit not entirely as a joke….
Question for those of you with kids in grade school (or for yourself, if you can remember): First graders – [...]

fa la la la la la la la la

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I went out this afternoon to Parkleigh and Archimage to do a little Christmas shopping. I can’t say what I got, because everyone for whom I got stuff reads this blog. Alas, alack.
I *can* tell you what I got for myself, though. I got this (in purple) for when the holidays are [...]

I really need to not keep getting Ian McEwen and Iain Banks confused.

OMFG

Wednesday, December 5th, 2007

I was just sitting in the living room, watching Otto play We Love Katamari, when I heard something rustling around over by the telephone stand thingy. I figured it was Lucy, the cat, so I didn’t pay too much attention.
UNTIL I LOOKED OVER AND SAW IT WAS A SQUIRREL.
I sent Otto to the dining [...]

nostalgia chicky, c’est moi

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I *need* to find a way to get this as my ringtone.
EDIT: I have found this but the file is too large to save to my phone.

snow, blah

Monday, December 3rd, 2007

My car is going to be fixed tomorrow! (insert happy dance here) Not that I really need it to go anywhere, but it’s nice to have my own car, and not have to drive Mr. Whitney’s. Plus, a yellow New Beetle is much easier to find in a parking lot than a dark blue Vibe.
Winter [...]
